April 6, 2010. The Road to Hana is definitely about the journey and not the destination, just like everyone said. We had a great guide book so we knew about all the places to stop along the way. Our first stop was a venture into a bamboo jungle. After we got to the first waterfall and read the next one was another 30 minutes deeper into the thick bamboo and small, slippery paths, we decided to keep going since there was so much else to see.
There were so many beautiful waterfalls along the way.
At the end of the road we finally found the red sand beach. I think it was more of a blend of red and black, the photo didn't really do it justice.
Here's what we had to hike up and down in order to get there.
But the view from there was great.
Though it was a long and winding 52 mile road with 617 curves, 56 bridges, it was well worth the trip!
