Xena (purple collar)

May 13, 2010.  I just received an update and lots of great photos from Belinda.  She is glad to report that Xena is doing well and is quite popular in the neighborhood.

Perhaps Xena is practicing her pointing stance. Would be nice to have another future hunting star.

Wrong way, silly girl...

...ah, now I see why you want to get up there.

Looks like she's pondering something every important.

Xena, enjoying a lovely day outside.

Looks like this book wasn't quite as interesting for Xena as it was to Dorian.

What a face!

Thanks Belinda for sharing all these wonderful photos!!

Week 11

May 4 - 9, 2010.  The pups are all doing well and we are back into our regular routine of craziness...work, training, shows, it never ends!

Prada is having a great time with Nadine and hanging in the yard with her Weimy family.

How nice of Dude to let her sleep on him.  Awww, what a nice daddy / daughter moment.

She also gets lots of socialization going to the grooming shop with Nadine.  Here she is with her best friend.

Abby enjoys lounging in the sun just like her Aunt Brooke.  Apparently she enjoys leaves too :)

Saturday morning I dropped Scott off at the airport for his trip to Vegas and then it was off to the Bucks County Kennel Club show in PA.  It was a bit windy but the sun was out so it was a lovely day.  After our ring time Sawyer and I hung out with a few of our St. Hubert's friends.

Sunday was the Delaware Valley Weimaraner Club specialty at Mercer County Park.  It felt more like March than May with high winds and clouds, but we all know weather never stops a dog show!  We got to see Prada in person and she's turning into quite a beauty.

Apparently she was going to help me work the pedals as she jumped into the car before I was about to leave.

So long Newman

May 3, 2010.  Newman went to his new home today.  It was bittersweet as his new family is very excited to have him but he will be missed here.  Sawyer just loved playing with him but I'm sure he'll be happy to get back more of my attention.  And we'll see Newman soon.

I had to take a few more pictures of Newman before he left.  He loved to go upstairs to play.

At the top of the stairs he's the king of the world.  Love the ears!

Newman was sleeping on the couch but woke up just as I snapped the picture.  Hope his new owners don't mind him being on the couch because he just loves it.

Newman and Sawyer got their last bit of playing in before Newman left.

I love how Sawyer just sat down in the middle while Newman keeps struggling to get the bed away...and yes that's a puppy bed, not a chew toy.

Luann, Doug and Kirsten were just thrilled to finally bring Newman home.

Week 10

April 26 - May 2, 2010.  Trying to get back into a routine but still working full time from home since Newman is still here (no complaints).  He went to his second Fun Foundations class and was much more comfortable and outgoing then the first week.  It was really great to see his sister Abby there as well.

Newman is having a great time playing with big brother Sawyer.

It's hard to believe Sawyer was once this small, and not that long ago.

Sharon is doing well with Newman as well.

It's so nice when you can use your big brother's ear as a sleep mask.

All this playing makes everyone tired...or they're just lazy, especially since Brooke and Sharon aren't really playing with Newman as much as Sawyer is.

Sawyer was so tired he fell asleep standing up with his head on the coffee table.

Newman sleeping...looks like a bunny with those ears up.

He also likes to sleep on big brother Sawyer...he does make a good pillow.

Winking Newman

I received the official photo from Coco's finishing win.  I was glad to see it turned out well.

Ruby is doing really well and getting big.  Look at this sweet face, and such a pretty collar...you know I have a thing for collars.

Ruby shows off her chompers.

It was a really hot weekend, when did we spring foward to August??  Brooke, Sawyer and I spent the weekend at match shows.  We're trying to prepare for our outdoor obedience/rally trials at Nationals in a few weeks.  I was pleasantly surprised at how well they did considering the heat.  I'm hoping the weather is better in Gettysburg.

Successful Hunt Test Weekend

April 24 - 25, 2010.  I am very happy to report that Sawyer successfully completed the last two legs for his Junior Hunter title!!  It was very nice to pass 4 out of our 4 tries.  His handler (me) needs a little work but luckily Sawyer knows exactly what he's doing.  He is now CH Ashbrooke Quantrels Tom Sawyer Islnd, RLP, RL1, CD-H, JH....can't wait to add more titles!

Saturday was very hot for hunting but Sawyer was a trooper and kept on hunting.  He found and pointed lots of birds.  I attribute our lower scores to the judge that 'hates Weimaraners'.

Sunday was rainy and much cooler.  Sawyer did great and earned terrific scores.  9's in hunting, pointing and trainablity and an 8 in bird finding.  I almost wimped out because of the weather forecast but was glad I went.

Sawyer enjoys showing off all his ribbons.

Sawyer had fun playing with Newman when we got home.  A little game of tug, good thing Scott was on Newman's side.  Excuse the color of the video, I must have hit a wrong button on the camera.

Sawyer's dad, Dude, also had a great weekend.  He was entered in his first UKC conformation shows and took 5 Group 1's, a Reserve Best in Show and a Best in Show!  Finishing his UKC CH in one weekend!

Week 9

April 19 - 23, 2010.  The puppies are all doing well and adjusting to their new homes.  Newman is still here with us but is loving his time with his mom, Sharon, and big brother, Sawyer.

Sharon and Newman touching paws while sleeping.

Look at this face, Newman is so cute!

Newman and Sawyer are best buddies.

Someday Newman will be just as big as Sawyer.

Newman enjoys tennis balls just like Sawyer.

Newman also likes the toy that his owners bought him.  He got it once all the other pups left.

I think Ruby is feeling completely comfortable in her new home and snuggling with the kids.

Ruby also enjoys snuggling with her big sister Sage.

Miss Yada is also doing very well adjusting to her home filled with other Weims.  Her she is sleeping on her pink frog.

And then there was Newman

April 19, 2010.  Boy Blue, now Newman will be with me for a few more weeks.  His new owners are very anxious to have him but have some prior committments that will keep him with me for a little bit more.  Good thing he is so helpful around the house.

Monday evening we joined a Fun Foundations class offered by Blue Ribbon Dog Sports Coaching.  Linda Sperco is a great trainer and has help us prepare for all our obedience / rally competitions.  Linda offers this Fun Foundations class for puppies to learn the basics the right way from the beginning so they'll be prepared for their obedience careers.  The socialization and training for Newman was great as he'll also be another future show dog.  He was pretty tired after all that work.
