Glee Concert

June 16, 2011. Scott and I, along with our neighbor Kathy went to the Glee concert tonight. Some may call us ‘losers’ but it was a fun show. I was afraid to bring my new camera because I didn't know if it was allowed so I went with the old one, but still got some good pictures.  For this show they were filming for some 3D project, who knows, perhaps a Glee movie?? I don’t know but I think that’s the reason there were some special guest appearances...read on to find out who.

Kathy and I waiting to get into the show.

We were surprised to see Jane Lynch, aka Sue Sylvester, open the show. Sporting her track suit gown, she’s holding Glee barf bags which her Cheerios (cheerleaders) were handing out to the audience prior to the show.

They opened with Journey’s ‘Don’t Stop Believing’. Of course most of the kids at the show weren’t even born when that song was first out....so depressing.

The very talented Heather Morris who plays Brittany S. Pierce (say it out loud) did her version of her character’s idol, Britney Spears' ‘I’m a Slave 4 You’.

Starting at the small stage which was right in front of us, Mark Salling aka Puck, belted out the Queen classic ‘Fat Bottomed Girls’.

Chris Colfer who plays Kurt did a lovely rendition of the Beatles ‘I Want to Hold Your Hand’. Again, the parents of the kids at this show may not have even been born when the Beatles were first out.

The soulful Amber Riley (Mercedes) sang her solo from the small stage as well.

Kevin McHale (Artie) and Harry Shum Jr. (Mike Chang) took to the stage to do Michael Jackson’s PYT.

Next up was Lady Gaga’s ‘Born This Way’.

Jane Lynch came back out to introduce the rivals of the Glee club, The Warblers.

The Warblers, led by Darren Criss (Blaine), started on the small stage singing Katy Perry’s Teenage Dream.

Then they moved to the big stage with Pink’s ‘Raise Your Glass’.

Duets were next starting with Lea Michele (Rachel) and Chris Colfer (Kurt) singing a medley of ’Happy Days Are Here Again / Get Happy’.  I would have rather heard 'Defining Gravity'.

Dianna Agron (Quinn) and Chord Overstreet (Sam) sang Jason Mraz's ‘Lucky’

Then my favorite duet from Naya Rivers (Santana) and Amber Riley (Mercedes) with the classic ‘River Deep, Mountain Wide’ originally done by Ike & Tina Turner.

Then to our surprise Gwyneth Paltrow came out on stage! She sang Cee-Lo Green’s ‘Forget You’.

Cory Monteith (Finn) did Jesse’s Girl as his solo.  Who remembers Rick Springfield? I'm sure not many in this audience.

Naya Rivera got her solo with ‘Valerie’ and Heather Morris as a back up dancer.

The Glee cast slushied the audience with confetti.

Chris (Curt) led the girls in the Single Ladies dance.

Kevin McHale performed Artie’s dream out of the wheelchair doing the Safety Dance.

The final was Queen’s ‘Somebody to Love’

Overall it was a good, fun evening and I'm glad we got tickets this year, no matter what some others may say.

Sawyer / Starr Puppies

June 13, 2011.  I received a bunch of pictures of the puppies from Brian and Devon.  The pups are all doing well and enjoying the good weather, spending lots of time exploring outside.

Perimeter patrol.

Hey, you're not napping are you?  You're missing out on all the fun!

We'd like some water and maybe some sunglasses please.

Future tracker?

Dinner time!

Future supermodel?

A great place for a nap.

Exploring the outdoors.

Yard Work

June 13, 2011. We spent the weekend power washing the fence, front porch, deck, and some of the house. We got a dirt delivery on Monday so had to finish up the yard work. Good thing we have the dogs to ‘help’ us.

“Hey, why are you filling in the space under the fence? I’m still small enough to fit under there.” Exactly Daisy!

“And now you’re filling the hole I worked so hard to dig?
What is going on here??”

Enjoy filling that hole while you can Scott. I think Daisy is already planning her re-digging strategy.

Here’s where my hole used to be. I better get working on this again.

Perhaps I’ll just relocate some of this new dirt.

The adult dogs: Brooke, Sawyer and Sharon posing nicely on the deck.

Any chance I can get Daisy there in too and get a whole family portrait? Probably not, but I’ll try.
It's a miracle!

Let the yard chase begin.

I still love these action sequences with the new camera, especially the ear positions.

Brooke is more sophisticated with her run.

More Ashbrooke Updates

June 4, 2010.  Xena enjoys relaxing on her dog bed.  Guess this is the dog days of summer.

June 8, 2011.  Received this picture of Molly from Justin.  Now this is my idea of camping, right in the living room.  That'a girl!

June 9, 2011.  I'm so glad Scott has had no influence over Daisy.  Yes, she's a Yankee fan!!

June 10, 2011.  Ruby and her new brother, Hudson, are doing well.  Not sure who "liked" the new dog bed but it looks like Ruby is not getting involved in that discussion.

Birthday Parties and Playdates

June 5, 2011 continued...After a great play date with Tiki, it was off to Scott's sister's house for the kids' birthday party.... Jill has a new puppy, Frodo, who was born on the same day as Daisy. Frodo likes to PLAY!

We had Daisy and Frodo meet before putting them in the expen together.

Needless to say they hit it off and played like crazy the whole day.

This kept up for a long time.  Finally Frodo passed out.

Then he made himself comfortable on Daisy's bed.
She's thinking: "quick let me out while he's still sleeping!"

He was passed out.

Uh oh, he woke up.

But wait, today wasn't about the dogs, we're celebrating our nephews and niece's birthdays!
Here are the birthday kids: Austin (15), Logan (16) and Kendalyn (14)

They each get their own special cake.

Expens, they're not just for dogs.

By the end of the day, Daisy was quite tired and just wanted to settle on my lap.  Luckily she's still small enough to do that...but anyone who has a Weim knows they never think they're too big for this.

Goodbye Frodo!  It was a fun day, hope we can get together again soon.
