2011 WCA Nationals – Day 2

May 16, 2011. We had off today so I worked most of the day. The Best of Breed competition isn’t until tomorrow morning. Prada was in the Puppy Sweepstakes in the morning and was 5th out of a very large 12 – 18 month class of 14 entries. Although she didn’t earn a ribbon we thought she looked great!

Standin’ still.

Movin’ along.

It wouldn’t be a Dude child without the signature tongue sticking out.

Done for the day!

2011 WCA Nationals - Day 1

May 15, 2011. The first day of the Nationals started at the hunt and ratings tests. I didn’t have Sawyer entered because he already has his Junior Hunter (JH) and Novice Shooting Dog (NSD) titles. We’re still training for his Senior Hunter. But little sister Prada stepped in and earned her NSD title and her 3rd Junior Hunter leg.

Prada was a wild thing when she got back from the NSD run.

Prada was a hunting machine in the field.
She almost caught a bird.

She really had a good time chasing the birds after she found them.

Three legs down, one to go for Prada’s Junior Hunter title.

Barb came down from Canada for the Nationals. We were very glad to see her and Desi.

Desi patiently waiting for his NSD run. What a good time to practice stays....or hope mom gives me a slice of that orange.

Desi also did well in the field and got his NSD which earned him a WCA Versatile Rating.

Trenton Kennel Club

May 8, 2011.  Mother's day...again,  no holiday for dog showing.  Today we went to the Trenton Kennel Club show.  It was a beautiful day!  Sawyer won Best of Opposite Sex and then we headed over to the Lhasa ring to help my friend Bobbie and try out the new camera in the show environment.

Look at these beauties getting prepped for the ring.  Left is Maestro who got is Grand Championship on Saturday and on the right is Airy, who was one point away from her Championship before this show.

Airy is looking good.  She's in a large Open class today and it's a 3 point major.

I think the camera captured great moving shots of Airy.

Airy won her class and went Winners Bitch for the 3 point major.  Then I took over while Bobbie handled Maestro who got Best of Breed and Airy got Best of Winners and Best of Opposite Sex.
Go Champion Airy!!

Next up we're off to Ohio for the Weimaraner Club of America Nationals.  Looking forward to having fun with friends and getting lots of pictures.

Day 2 with the new camera

May 5, 2010.  I was able to get out earlier today when there was more light to try to practice my action shots.  So out came the toys and the dogs to see what we could get.

Sharon is ready to go!

Sawyer and Sharon patrolling the perimeter.

Sharon and Sawyer getting the same toy...I don't see this lasting very long.

I think Daisy is really excited to have the toy!

Daisy posing in the yard, enjoying the sunshine.

Not wanting to be left out of the action, Brooke has to have her photo taken too.   She's helping me with my indoor shots.

Scott and Daisy...awwww.

New Camera

May 4, 2011.  I finally decided on and purchased a new camera today.  I've been wanting to upgrade for awhile and after much deliberation selected the Canon EOS 60D.  Of course now I have to learn how to use it and what better way than to practice on my favorite subjects.

Scott poses with Daisy for the first shot with the new camera.

We decide to take it outside to test the action shots.  Sharon and Sawyer are waiting for the first throw.

And they're off.  Sawyer gets to the ball first with Daisy right behind.

Daisy is smaller but she's fast.  Run Sawyer!

She's gaining on you!

Time out from playing for a pose on the lounge chair.

Not wanting to be left out, Scott posed for his close up.

Later that night I received word that a litter Sawyer sired was born.  4 males and 3 females.  Mom, Starr and babies are doing great!

Delaware weekend

April 30, 2011.  This weekend we travelled to Delaware for the Delaware Valley Weimaraner Club supported entry and specialty.

Silly kids Cash and Prada want to see what's going on outside of the ex-pens.

Daisy's friend Rayne came over for a visit.

Sharon and Daisy hanging out in the ex-pen.

Sawyer must see someone coming since he's in his alert stance.

Daisy and Sawyer chewing on their bones.

Poor Daisy doesn't have enough weight yet to play a good game of tug with Sawyer

Daisy stacked at 14 weeks.

Prada went Best Puppy in Sweepstakes on Saturday and got the Award of Merit on Sunday.

Maryland Specialties

April 22, 2010.  We spent Easter weekend in Maryland for the DC Weim club specialties.  There's no holidays for dog showing.

Sawyer completed his Beginner Novice title.  It was a beautiful run with 1 small mistake that cost us a lot of points and first place.  Oh well, at least he got his title.

Sharon made her debut in Veterans Sweepstakes.  She won her class each day and is still looking good at 7 years old.  Sawyer was Select Dog two out of the three days.

Meanwhile we got an update that brother Tiki was enjoying a trip with his family to Vermont while we were getting washed out in Harrisburg.

Tiki enjoyed the sun while it was raining back home.

Those hikes really wear you out so you need to rest in between.

I also got an update from Penny that Abby is enjoying the nice weather that has finally arrived in NJ.  We're all sick of the snow and rain.
