Nationals - Day 2, Ratings Test

May 1, 2010.  Sunday Sawyer earned his WCA Novice Shooting Dog title (NSD). He found a bird as soon as we got into the bird field. He's a hunting machine and we can't wait to progress in his training.

Barb was a little slow in drawing her gun but good thing she got the shot off so Hula (another Dude daughter) could earn her NSD title too.

Sunday evening we took Sawyer and Prada out into the fields. Even Prada got into the pointing and Sawyer found a bird. I think there's a hunting title in her future as well.
Prada on point.

Sawyer on point.

The evening brought four wheelin' fun. Barb had a great time on the ATV.

Scott took a whirl around the grounds as well.

Sharon went home with Scott on Sunday night since she wasn't entered in any other events. I'm sure she'll enjoy her week home with dad.

Monday was the Novice Field day seminar and then off to the host hotel in Gettysburg. Saywer and Brooke were pooped by the time we settled in and were very comfortable being hotel dogs for the evening.

Off to Nationals... First up, Hunt Tests

May 15, 2010.  The week of the Weimaraner Club of America Nationals started off at the York Pointer Setter Club with Hunting events.

Saturday Sharon earned her first Junior Hunter leg.

She had never seen horses before so I'm glad they didn't freak her out since the judges were on horseback.  Both she and Sawyer (the next day) were quite comfortable around them .

Dude also earned his first Junior Hunter leg.

Miss Prada Yada was there, she was cute as ever and had a great time with the birds.  Scott hadn't seen her since she left sand she has grown so much since then.

But she is still rambuncious.  Here she is trying to eat the ex-pen.

Sawyer was catching some shade while the girls, Sharon and Brooke, enjoyed the sun.

Dude is being goofy while mom, Mira looks on.

Brooke was more comfortable waiting in the car than the ex-pens.  I call this one 'Driving Miss Brooke'.

Later in the afternoon we took Sawyer and his grandma, Mira, out in the fields.  He had a great time running around and looking for birds.

Barb and Frank arrived from Canada on Saturday night. They have two Dude puppies that are just adorable.
Here one of the puppies in enjoying the agility tunnel...well I think he's just enjoying the shade.

Look at this face, so cute!

It's so tempting to steal one, but I had to get in line with all the other people that wanted to steal these cuties!  That was Karin to my right who was trying to take the other puppy.

Xena (purple collar)

May 13, 2010.  I just received an update and lots of great photos from Belinda.  She is glad to report that Xena is doing well and is quite popular in the neighborhood.

Perhaps Xena is practicing her pointing stance. Would be nice to have another future hunting star.

Wrong way, silly girl...

...ah, now I see why you want to get up there.

Looks like she's pondering something every important.

Xena, enjoying a lovely day outside.

Looks like this book wasn't quite as interesting for Xena as it was to Dorian.

What a face!

Thanks Belinda for sharing all these wonderful photos!!

Week 11

May 4 - 9, 2010.  The pups are all doing well and we are back into our regular routine of craziness...work, training, shows, it never ends!

Prada is having a great time with Nadine and hanging in the yard with her Weimy family.

How nice of Dude to let her sleep on him.  Awww, what a nice daddy / daughter moment.

She also gets lots of socialization going to the grooming shop with Nadine.  Here she is with her best friend.

Abby enjoys lounging in the sun just like her Aunt Brooke.  Apparently she enjoys leaves too :)

Saturday morning I dropped Scott off at the airport for his trip to Vegas and then it was off to the Bucks County Kennel Club show in PA.  It was a bit windy but the sun was out so it was a lovely day.  After our ring time Sawyer and I hung out with a few of our St. Hubert's friends.

Sunday was the Delaware Valley Weimaraner Club specialty at Mercer County Park.  It felt more like March than May with high winds and clouds, but we all know weather never stops a dog show!  We got to see Prada in person and she's turning into quite a beauty.

Apparently she was going to help me work the pedals as she jumped into the car before I was about to leave.

So long Newman

May 3, 2010.  Newman went to his new home today.  It was bittersweet as his new family is very excited to have him but he will be missed here.  Sawyer just loved playing with him but I'm sure he'll be happy to get back more of my attention.  And we'll see Newman soon.

I had to take a few more pictures of Newman before he left.  He loved to go upstairs to play.

At the top of the stairs he's the king of the world.  Love the ears!

Newman was sleeping on the couch but woke up just as I snapped the picture.  Hope his new owners don't mind him being on the couch because he just loves it.

Newman and Sawyer got their last bit of playing in before Newman left.

I love how Sawyer just sat down in the middle while Newman keeps struggling to get the bed away...and yes that's a puppy bed, not a chew toy.

Luann, Doug and Kirsten were just thrilled to finally bring Newman home.

Week 10

April 26 - May 2, 2010.  Trying to get back into a routine but still working full time from home since Newman is still here (no complaints).  He went to his second Fun Foundations class and was much more comfortable and outgoing then the first week.  It was really great to see his sister Abby there as well.

Newman is having a great time playing with big brother Sawyer.

It's hard to believe Sawyer was once this small, and not that long ago.

Sharon is doing well with Newman as well.

It's so nice when you can use your big brother's ear as a sleep mask.

All this playing makes everyone tired...or they're just lazy, especially since Brooke and Sharon aren't really playing with Newman as much as Sawyer is.

Sawyer was so tired he fell asleep standing up with his head on the coffee table.

Newman sleeping...looks like a bunny with those ears up.

He also likes to sleep on big brother Sawyer...he does make a good pillow.

Winking Newman

I received the official photo from Coco's finishing win.  I was glad to see it turned out well.

Ruby is doing really well and getting big.  Look at this sweet face, and such a pretty collar...you know I have a thing for collars.

Ruby shows off her chompers.

It was a really hot weekend, when did we spring foward to August??  Brooke, Sawyer and I spent the weekend at match shows.  We're trying to prepare for our outdoor obedience/rally trials at Nationals in a few weeks.  I was pleasantly surprised at how well they did considering the heat.  I'm hoping the weather is better in Gettysburg.
